Vaccination of a kitten is necessary because kittens are more prone to diseases because their immune system is weak. This article is not about what vaccination is, its uses, mechanism, etc. In fact, this article is all about the vaccination schedule for cats.

Before starting, keep in mind that the vaccination schedule differs somehow depending upon the geographical area. Because some diseases are more prevalent in specific areas and in specific times. So if you have a kitten/cat, and you live in Pakistan, then this article is for you.

Vaccination Schedule for Cats in Pakistan (Step-by-Step)

  • When your kitten hits the age of 3 months, before giving any shot of the vaccine, it is necessary to deworm your kitten with any available dewormer (e.g tab. Drontal ®, Syp. Vermox ®)
  • Again deworm your kitten after 10 days of initial administration of the dewormer.
  • After 15 days of that 10th day, give the first shot of the vaccine to your kitten. Now the question is what type of vaccine? Name? Don’t worry here we go.

In Pakistan, a lot of feline vaccines are available, but the most commonly used vaccine in cats are CANVAC- R ® and Biofel PCH ®.

CANVAC-R ® is against rabies while the Biofel PCH ® is against feline panleukopenia, calicivirus, and herpes virus)

Killed vaccines should be repeat after 21 days, while there is no need to repeat the live vaccines

How to Administer Vaccination in Cats?

As I mentioned above, on the 15th day, give a shot of the vaccine, now it is up to you whether you administer CANVAC-R ® first or Biofel PCH ®. Let’s suppose you administer CANVAC-R ® first, then give 1ml of vaccine subcutaneously just once.

You can give Biofel PCH ® either on the same day or the next day, the dose should be 1ml subcutaneously.

Note: Normally there is no need to repeat the CANVAC-R ® but for prevention, we repeat every year, but Biofel PCH should be repeat every year.
